Basics of Twitter Screen Cast 2 Final Project

In this blog I have went through how to set up a Twitter account and the basics steps performed for users that are new to the account.

The Voice and Facebook

The Voice just added Facebook to ends trend of social media.  They are now processing votes and publicizing more than just on Twitter and by doing so they are gaining a new fan base.  In my screen cast I show how to get to the Facebook page and how to search through the different areas of the page.  I explain how they use it to show picture, watch videos, and check out behind the scene footage all on the Facebook page.  I also show where to vote, but was not able to because voting is closed until Monday night.

The Voice and Social Media Final Project

The Voice is a television series that involves four famous singers as coaches and they select singers through a series of blind auditions.  Social media has really got involved with the television industry, and The Voice uses Twitter very heavily.  The Voice uses twitter to ask the judges questions, vote, and save contestants as they are eliminated.  One thing that really strikes me about the show and social media is that the coaches tweet during the show all the time.

Twitter
The Voice uses Twitter as its main promotion for the show.  This first article shows how it is problematic for the coaches.  The coaches respond to their Twitter question and last Monday there were some lyrics replaced and the fans were not happy about it.  This article on the Boot discusses that they are going to lose fans on Twitter because they replaced those lyrics.  Coach Blake Shelton immediately apologized to Twitter and said he had nothing to do with these changes.  This next article on the Billboard talks about how Christina Aguilera joined Twitter to honor and promote the Voice.  Christina joining Twitter for the Voice brings her fans to watch the show.  The Voice is very watched show, but without these coaches promoting through Twitter it may not be as watched as it is.  Christina joining just shows how much they rely on social media for this show.  USA Today has an article about how the fans can now join Twitter in order to vote and save their favorite artists.  The show really wants to put the fans in charge of who stays on the show and they are doing that through Twitter.  They see Twitter as the quick and easy way to calculate votes from fans and also keep them interested and involved.

Facebook
These next two articles talk about how Facebook have also added voting options for the Voice through the timeline.  Lost Remote talks about how the Voice is already one of the most social television shows out there.  It goes on to talk about how they have now added a way to vote via Facebook and how that allows more fans to get involved with the show and keep up with their favorite artists. Huffpost TV also talks about Facebook and the Voice.  It talks about the new timeline app on Facebook and how they are using it to vote, but it also talks about how using social media has drawn in the young adults to the Voice.  It shows how since they have started using social media with the Voice number of viewers has jumped tremendously.

Facebook Page

I created Tennessee Twisters which is a baseball organization for high school players to compete in the southeast region.  The can be in the age groups between 15-18 years old, but have to be admitted to the team through an open tryout.  This is a real team that I have coached the past two summers.  The photo is at Turner Field in Atlanta when we won the Triple Crown.  I will probably go on to make this page better and try to reach out to kids in the Chattanooga area to come and tryout for our team.

Sample Screencast

My screen cast is someone that is explaining how to embed a YouTube video into a power point. It is easier to describe online activities through a screen cast because it actually goes through each step one at a time. You get a visual of how things work and the exact steps to take. Instead of having to back and read each step you are able to pause the video until you get through that step and then carry on. It is much easier to see how things work than it is to read it and try to figure it out that way.

My favorite video on YouTube

I like this video because it has to do with adventurous or talented people that enjoy what they do. This video shows how some people have dedicated a lot of time to making a shot, landing a trick, or being perfect.  If some of these people failed at what they did they could be seriously injured. This video is relevant to me because it deals with people who are searching for an adrenaline rush or participate in extreme sports.  I am a big wake boarder and snow boarder and a lot of the video deals with that.  This video is kind of inspiring because I would love to be as good as some of them.

Favorite Blog

My favorite blog is the Baseball Blog. I had never looked at blogs before, but I enjoyed this one because it talks about everything going on in baseball.  It had many different people's post and their thoughts about things that were happening.
